Duncanville ISD Trustees Honored
On Monday, January 11 students and staff will gather at the regular monthly School Board meeting to honor and thank our board members for their commitment and service to Duncanville ISD students. Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January 2010 as School Board Recognition Month, and Duncanville ISD is joining other districts across the state to show appreciation to these dedicated citizens.
The Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees is one of 1,036 district and county school boards across the state. These boards enable local control of our public schools, allowing decisions to be made by citizens who understand the community’s unique culture, values, and challenges. “Serving on a local school board is no easy task, especially in today’s climate of change and economic uncertainty. It’s a huge responsibility, one which has an effect on virtually every aspect of our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Alfred Ray.
Duncanville ISD school board members are a vital link between the community and the classroom. They bear responsibility for an annual budget of $85 million for a district which numbers nearly 13,000 students, 1700 staff, and 18 campuses. The Duncanville ISD community is encouraged to help honor and salute these educational advocates for their contributions, dedication, and leadership for student achievement, academic programs, district funding, and school facilities.
Members of the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees are Louis V. McElroy, President; Marlies Peregory, Vice-President; Dr. Deborah Harris, Secretary; and trustees Tom Kennedy, Marshal Wesley, Cynthia Werner, and Dorothy Wolverton. Click here to learn more about each member.
