Remembering the Past to Help Frame Our Future
The first day of school is August 23, 2010, and we're looking forward to
another exciting year of student success! But before it begins, we
thought we'd take a look back at some of the highlights from the 2009-10
school year and see how our continued focus on profound learning is
helping to frame the future of our district. We hope you'll enjoy the
video below!
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Duncanville ISD staff members learned the true value of a picture during
the district's annual Convocation event on August 16. In a compelling
message by Superintendent Dr. Alfred Ray, those who attended viewed
photos of past successes and were asked to "Frame the Future" by
envisioning a district that is focused on profound learning and
committed to providing students with engaging learning experiences. "Six
years ago in August 2004, our slogan, 'Engaging Hearts and Minds' was
unveiled," said Dr. Ray. "Since that time we’ve been on this slow and
deliberate journey that will move our district from good to great. As we
enter the seventh year of our voyage we know we’ve made tremendous
progress, and it excites me to envision what the future holds for our
organization, community, and most importantly, our students." You
